What this desk is, and is not. Every page here rests on a document published by the body that issued it — a Department of Insurance approval, a Public Utilities Commission decision, a certified wage rate, a section of Title 8. Where this desk reaches a conclusion rather than reporting a record, it says so and gives the strongest argument against it. It is a documentary practice, not advice: nothing on these pages is legal, financial, insurance or investment counsel, and the physician authorship of this site confers no expertise in those fields. What it confers is the habit of not letting a summary stand in for the source, which is why every page ends by telling you where to read the document yourself.

The Federal Trade Commission has proposed a policy on undisclosed individualised pricing. A proposal is not a rule, and personalised pricing is not the same thing as ordinary dynamic pricing.
