The Valley’s daily-life questions — air, heat, water, electricity, ground, wages, roads — are answered by a small number of public bodies that publish continuously and are read by almost nobody. This desk covers records with a household consequence and keeps a standing list of where those records live, so the check does not depend on this page being current.
The Department of Insurance approved a 29.1% average increase on California FAIR Plan dwelling policies, effective for new and renewal business from 15 October 2026. The average is not the number on your notice.

California runs an outdoor heat standard and an indoor one, with different triggers and different duties. In a county that spends much of the summer above 100°F, the difference between them decides what an employer owes you.
