Archive page added ; each linked record keeps its own publication and source dates
The November 3, 2026 election has moved from voting to counting, certification and the transfer of governing authority. This archive preserves the information published during the election period. It records what the publication said and when it said it; it is not a current voting-instruction page.
Projected winners, reported vote totals and certified results are different kinds of information. The new policy outlook uses a dated results baseline and identifies the status of each outcome. A later certified count should be added as an update, with the earlier snapshot preserved.
Historical voting information
- Voting in California on November 3, 2026: the dates that mattered. The original voting guide remains at its existing address with a historical notice.
- California registration: the October 19 deadline and conditional-registration period. A dated October 19 source record, retained after its deadlines passed.
- The October 26 Weekly. The issue's forward calendar describes the information available on its publication date.
Reporting published during the election period
A zero breath test, a negative toxicology announcement, and the rights and evidence that matter remains a legal and evidentiary investigation. Its political disclosure stays visible. A separately dated election-result note does not alter its underlying evidence, settle an unresolved legal question or establish why an official acted.
Earlier front pages are preserved in the general archive. The front page immediately before this post-election update is retained as a separate historical edition.
The governing outlook
The new California and Federal Policy Outlook, 2027–2030 follows the consequences of the election through twenty-four analyses. It examines congressional oversight, presidential authority, California's transition, other states, foreign policy and the rules and budgets that reach households.
Official California counts and certification information are available from the Secretary of State. For local offices, use the relevant county's election record. The publication's forecast register explains what is expected to change, why, and what evidence would alter the assessment.
The results record
| Chamber | Democratic or Democratic-aligned | Republican | Not yet called | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| U.S. House | 248 Democratic | 150 Republican | 37 uncalled | 435 voting seats; called races only |
| U.S. Senate | 54 Democratic-aligned (52 Democratic party, 2 independents who caucus with Democrats) | 44 Republican | 2 unresolved (Alaska and Mississippi) | Called races plus continuing seats |
Status: The Associated Press has called Democratic control of both incoming chambers; President Trump remains in office, and the incoming Congress’s terms begin 3 January 2027. Xavier Becerra is the projected winner of California’s governorship; statewide certification is scheduled for 11 December. This is a partial, timestamped count, not a final or certified composition. Re-checked : no later count from the same source was located, so the 6 November snapshot stands; a later count will be added as a separately dated update. Sources: AP; Ballotpedia, 6 November; California Secretary of State.
The full dated record, including the earlier 4 November snapshot and the transition milestones, is in the results baseline.
